On Wednesday 13th February, Year 5 and 6 had the amazing opportunity to learn and understand how Parliament works in our society. It all started with an assembly discussing what Parliament is and what it does on a day to day basis? The children were able to ask many questions about our UK political system and difference between the House of Commons and Lords. Later on, the children participated in some fantastic workshops – where they learnt about how different Bills and regulations are passed to become law. The pupils also had the opportunity to take part in a debate much like they would in Parliament as well as make a key vote on ‘Should children under the age of 12 have a mobile phone?’ The future is bright if our children become politicians.
